His new novel, The Art of Surrender, is set across Morocco, Gibraltar, Zürich, St Moritz, Berlin, and Sydney. It follows Ayman Saliba and Lucas Pfifer — two men whose lives collide in the steam and silence of a Moroccan hammām and whose relationship unfolds over years, continents, crises, and a reckoning that arrives just in time, or possibly too late. Told in alternating points of view, the novel is about the slow, reluctant, and sometimes devastating process by which two people learn to let themselves be known — and what it costs to resist that surrender for too long.
